Taiwan Joins the Enterprise Europe Network

Taiwan has signed an agreement with DG GROW (Directorate-General for Internal Market, Industry, Entrepreneurship and SMEs) of the European Commission to join the EEN (Enterprise Europe Network), reported United Daily News on June 5. Taiwan's participation in the EEN will consolidate Taiwan-EU economic relations, benefitting following negotiations on BIA (bilateral investment agreement) and ECA (economic cooperation agreement). EEN Taiwan will cover 300,000 local enterprises, representing 90% of Taiwan's electrical and electronic manufacturers and ICT vendors, and provide opportunities for business partnering, technology transfer and industrial cooperation between Taiwanese and EU enterprises. Taiwan-EU trade amounted to US$50.9 billion in 2014, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
